Just follow the suit of Sony, JVC start using the ridiculous proprietary .MOD format for their HDD movie cameras too and produced small .MOI files sometimes containing time stamp information associated with MOD files.
We like the camera but don't feel comfortable with this strange .mod file format, which Final Cut Pro, iMovie and many other Mac video editors cannot import natively. Why should we convert mod to mp4? MOD video files are nothing but modified MPEG-2 files with AC3 audio. But if you want to view the mod file on most common media players, they don't work fine even you have renamed the .MOD file extension to .AVI or .MPG, so we'd better convert MOD file to some common format first,say,MP4 file, which will have a smooth playback on our portable devices. mod to mp4 converter for mac provides a all-in-one solution for Mac users to read and convert .mod to other regular video formats like mp4,mpg,avi, dv,mpeg, mkv, flv, swf, etc easy and fast.
